Hong Kong’s private-home prices edged higher for a second consecutive month in September, while rents climbed to another record, according to figures reported by RTHK.
The Rating and Valuation Department’s private domestic price index reached 320.8, up 0.19% from August. The increase was modest, but prices were 9.3% higher than a year earlier, RTHK reported.
The private domestic rental index rose 0.47% month on month to 212.2, marking an 11th consecutive monthly increase and a fresh high. Rents were 6.2% higher than in September 2025.
Prices rise across both main size groups
Prices for small and medium-sized flats increased by 0.16% from August, while larger homes rose 0.8%, according to the figures cited by RTHK.
The September data are provisional and may be revised. The indices describe changes across the private residential market; they do not mean every home or tenancy changed by the same amount.
For households looking to rent, the latest figures point to continued pressure on housing costs across the market. For prospective buyers, the second monthly price increase is a sign of a recent recovery, although the small monthly gain does not establish what prices will do next.
