Hong Kong’s Tourism Board has announced its first “Hong Kong Halloween Month”, with district celebrations building towards Halloween night on 31 October 2026. Street events are planned across three Saturdays—17, 24 and 31 October—with additional activities on other dates. RTHK reported the announcement on 29 September.
Where and when are the events?
The Tourism Board’s event guide lists five celebration areas:
- Central — Statue Square Gardens and Chater Road: Halloween installations are planned at Statue Square Gardens (South) from 17 to 31 October. Chater Road’s programme includes an open-air music party on 18 October, a family day with costume activities and performances on 24 October, and a late-night cosplay finale on 31 October. Prices vary by event.
- Kai Tak Sports Park — Dining Cove: A cosplay opening party is listed for 17 October. A family and pet-friendly marketplace follows on 24–25 October, with music, dancing, a festive market and trick-or-treat activities on 30–31 October. The Tourism Board lists free admission.
- Lan Kwai Fong: The neighbourhood has a different street-party theme each Saturday: celebrity and pop-culture costumes on 17 October, a wizard-themed party on 24 October, and Monsters Night with a costume photo hunt and DJ set on 31 October. The Tourism Board lists free admission.
- Mong Kok — Portland Street outside Langham Place: A cosplay carnival opens the programme on 17 October, followed by a street festival on 24 October. The 31 October finale is planned as a larger outdoor carnival with Canton-pop performances; the Tourism Board says the main road will close for the event. The listed activities have free admission.
- Tsim Sha Tsui East — Mody Road Garden: Music and costume events are planned for all three Saturdays. 17 October has an anime and cartoon theme, 24 October focuses on film characters, and 31 October brings a Halloween music finale. Costume stalls, face painting and themed snacks are also listed. Admission is free.
Halloween rides and theme parks
On 17, 24 and 31 October, visitors wearing Halloween attire can ride designated party trams free of charge. Citybus also plans a free Halloween-themed open-top sightseeing route for visitors in costume, travelling between celebration areas on Hong Kong Island and in Kowloon. The offer applies to these special rides; check the Tourism Board’s Halloween page for further boarding details before setting out.
The wider Halloween programme also includes seasonal events at Hong Kong Disneyland, listed from 18 September to 1 November, and Ocean Park, listed from 5 September to 1 November. These are separate theme park attractions with their own ticketing arrangements.
