A luxury house at One Stanley, reportedly bought for more than HK$100 million, is under investigation after inspections found reinforcement that differed from approved plans.
The owner reportedly purchased the four-bedroom house in April 2024 and completed the transaction that August. It has more than 3,000 square feet of saleable space.
The Buildings Department said on 3 October that reinforcement in some floor slabs deviated from approved plans. Required wire mesh was also missing from the concrete cover of a ground-floor beam.
The department said these irregularities posed no obvious danger, but construction quality warranted further investigation.
The house received its occupation permit in July 2023. The owner’s representative raised structural concerns in January 2026, and an inspection followed in March. Further tests took place between June and September.
Officials are analysing the results and seeking interviews and information from the developer and building professionals.
An engineer appointed by the owner reportedly calculated reinforcement shortfalls of up to 75% in some locations. This is not a finding confirmed by the department. The developer has disputed the allegations and questioned testing methods.
The department said prosecution or disciplinary action could follow if breaches were established.
